More than a thousand donors reached into their wallets and purses today to make a donation to Mecosta County non-profit organizations.
It was part of a “Match Day” promotion by the Mecosta County Community Foundation.
The Foundation set aside 50 thousand dollars and agreed to match donations to these groups, 50 cents on the dollars, until the 50 thousand ran out.
It seems to have worked. Donations totaling almost 253 thousand dollars came in to the Foundation, which will distribute the funds to the charities on October 27th.
