The Mecosta County Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Day (formerly Match Day) event has raised more than $4 million in just 6 years for Mecosta County area non-profit organizations and endowments.

Philanthropy Day began as “Match Day” in 2010 to help charities who were feeling the revenue pinch during our most recent recession. The foundation, thanks to the generosity of area donors, supplies a “match pool” of funds that are used to match donations to area non-profits during the one day event. Each non-profit group reaches out to their supporters to garner donations during the event, which turns out to be the biggest single day of fundraising in our community each year.
The non-profit groups set up displays during the event, held at the Big Rapids Holiday Inn and Hotel Center, to showcase their programs and to make it easier on Philanthropy Day to take donations.
