Scholarships awarded to Ferris State students

The Mecosta County Community Foundation recently awarded three Ferris State University students with scholarships to help them with their current academic studies.

Morley native Matthias Stevens was awarded the Alice Stephenson Schuberg scholarship. Matthias is currently studying to be an elementary education teacher.

Chippewa Hills students awarded scholarships

Chippewa Hills graduates Emma Eldred (on left) and Paige Karamer (on right) recently were awarded scholarships from the Mecosta County Community Foundation.

Emma received the Jacob & Gertude VanDyke scholarship and plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University in Nursing.  She hopes to return to help people in her community.

Big Rapids graduates receive scholarships

Big Rapids graduates Kathryn Williams, Joseph Templin and McKenzie Gilbert  recently received foundation scholarships.

Kathryn Williams received the Barry Brratt scholarship. She will be attending Grand Valley State University to study biology.  Her interest is in marine biology and has done several research programs and projects.

Miller Scholarship presented to Nathan Renne

Evart graduate Nathan Renne was presented the Robert D. Miller Scholarship.  Nathan was in the Integrated Construction Technology program at the Career Center and plans to attend FSU in Building Technology.  He also is close to becoming  an Eagle Scout.

Shirlee Hopper-Scherch has joined the foundation as  Affiliate Manager. In this new role, Hopper-Scherch will provide administrative support for both the Mecosta County  Community Foundation and the Osceola County Community Foundation and serve as liaison between both affiliates and the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
